In the 19th century, Pastor Sebastian Kneipp had already developed his concept for healing and keeping the human body
healthy. Along with exercise and diet, he particularly built on the idea of "hydrotherapy", in which he employed water
as a healing and health-enhancing agent.
The Kneipp movement also found followers in Stans. In 1890, a local resident, Alois Gürtler, a student of Pastor Kneipp,
founded the Kneipp Health Resort, which soon found tremendous popularity. The town is blessed with clean air and excellent
drinking water and was already at that time ideal as a summer retreat for people and families looking for peace and quiet
and an exceptional location for cures and coldwater treatments. It was most likely World War I that brought an end to
Tyrol’s oldest Kneipp health resort.
In the Schwarzbrunnquelle of the Wellness Hotel Schwarzbrunn you will find a generous Kneipp basin, which
offers exquisite and tingling refreshment. The positive effects of the Kneipp treatment for the heart and circulatory
system are undisputed. Of course it is also loved and appreciated by our guests after the sauna and a visit to the steam
bath or Sole-Grotte.
